Traditionally Kongu Community has been an agrarian community. It has been a constant evolution of our community, from agriculture to modern technological era.
People change, geographies change, and cultures gets adapted/changed.
Today the world has shrunk so small that, it is now called a Global Village which has brought down the barriers on distance.
Kongu Vellala Gounder’s are also not an exception to this change; even our community has capitalized in this global economics and has spread its wings every where. People migrated to other parts of the country/world from the traditional Kongunadu region seeking better occupation/business/career opportunities; which shows the adaptability, flexibility and versatility of our community.
In spite of this wide spread of Kongu’s around the globe, the unique trait that binds all of us is the . Moreover Kongu’s have been known for their hospitality, which makes our community a highly civilized community amongst the peers. Though these migrations have brought in lot of prosperity amongst Kongu’s, it has left us in the ignorance on the legacy, heritage and culture of our community. A lot of our community youth these days do not have an idea about the tradition of our community.
Even though our community and youth to large extent have acquired a lot of advanced knowledge in almost all the fields, there are certain value systems and culture which are unique to us. These value systems formed the foundations on which our community was evolved and practiced. This ignorance can be attributed to the lack of exposure and knowledge transfer from the elder’s of our community.
Considering all these facts, decided to form a network, which will bring in all the kongu’s around the globe together on a common platform. They also wanted the group to be a guide and torch bearer for the community. They wanted to exploit the vast capabilities that networking and technology had to offer to reach to the . Internet was the only choice to reach to the vast global audience, which can be omni present everywhere.
